MINUTES OF PARADISE BAY BOATING & FISHING CLUB MEETING
December 6, 2016

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by President Carl Shaver, 55 members present. Opening prayer was observed. Treasurer’s report and Secretary report were read and approved.
Fish Contest Awards were presented. Carl asked members to assist others trying to learn fishing in our area. Bill Booher and Carl Shaver offered to help. Fish contest rules are available to pick up.
Next one-day contest is December 15.
Don Domrose will be working with updates to the boat assist list. They are available.
Gary Armour has hats and club t-shirts available for purchase.
Frank Chan, recent past President has agreed to be our Sarasota Bay RV Liaison. Thank you Frank.
DOCK MASTER REPORT
Thanks to Gary Armour and Werner Rimatzki for power washing the docks and Gary for cleaning up storm debris from the sea wall rock area.
Dock billing is the same as last year but a ½% sales tax increase. Revenue will be about $39,000 with $10,000 expenses.
January projects to remove fixed docks between 5th & 6th St, build and install 5 floating docks with new electric and water. Move one fish cleaning station down by boat lift. Installing channel markers hopefully using old pilings removed during dock building. If you need names & numbers on dock or boat trailer, see Don Domrose.
We are having problems with netters on docks. The sheriff said not to confront them, call the sheriff and report you have trespassers on the docks.
We are still looking for someone to take over Dock Master and Assistants job.
We will be hosting Paradise Bay Coffee Hour December 19, 2016. A signup sheet was passed for volunteers.
Next meeting is January 3, 2017at 9:00 AM, Paradise Bay Hall, with Coast Guard Boat Inspection to follow.
The Manatee County Fire Department will be teaching CPR Classes again in March, sign up for that at next two meetings.
Coast Guard Safety Courses are available at their location near GT Bray Park.
BIG THING: JANUARY 28, 2017 BEAN & FRANK DINNER….SAVE THE DATE. JOYCE SHAVER WILL BE HANDLING TICKET SALES AND DISTRIBUTION.
CLOROX BOTTLES ARE NEEDED IN THE DOCK AREA, IF YOU HAVE ANY DROP THEM OFF BY THE BOAT STORAGE AREA.

The meeting was called to order at 11:00 AM by President, Carl Shaver, 124 Members present, 3 Coast Guard Auxiliary and 4 Manatee Fire & Rescue as guests. Smith gave the opening prayer. Treasurer’s report and Secretary report were read and approved.
Sign-up sheets for Boat Inspection, CPR and Easter Dinner Volunteers were passed.
Fish Contest Awards Presented.
Carl Thanked everyone who sold tickets for the Frank & Bean Dinner and all the volunteers who made our dinner a success.
KAYAK REPORT: Frank Chan reported 2 kayak wash racks are being built, money was donated by the Activity Board. Paul and Jan Sutherland helped with getting board approval, Mike Goode ordered supplies and John Vanzusen is donating his time to build the racks. One will be placed at 5th Street and one at 103rd St. The kayak group needs a spokesperson.
FRANK & BEAN DINNER REPORT: John Mattei is the coordinator he thanked everyone especially Kay and Don Domrose for their guidance. We served 533 people. Any input is welcome from members with suggestions for next year.
VICE-PRESIDENT REPORT: Gary Armour has hats and t shirts available.
DOCKMASTER’S REPORT: Don Vogel thanked everyone for building docks and the preparation for dock installation, there were 3 crews and about 40 volunteers. The workers were treated to lunch on the two days they worked, thank you ladies. On Wednesday Feb. 1, they will be tearing out the old docks, Friday Feb 3 the new docks will be floated into the dock area. Monday, Feb 6 plans are to put in new pilings and install the docks.
The storm last week had higher than normal tides, several boats had broken ropes, he suggests ropes be ½” twisted nylon, check your ropes to determine if they need replaced. When using the 5th Street ramp, low tide is better for launching than high tide. Boat storage area is tight, make sure your trailer has your name & park address on the tongue, motors need to be left in the down position. Don asked someone to volunteer to take over the Dock master’s position He will assist with training a new member.
BOAT ASSIST LIST: Don Domrose has an updated list as of January, please let him know if you have changes to your phone numbers and if you still want to remain on the list.
Carl welcomed 4 West Manatee Fire & Rescue Guests. John Stump, Lieutenant A Shift will be teaching CPR classes again this year. We may have changes in the dates due to scheduling conflicts. CPR will be taught two sessions on March 3 and possibly March 10.
Coast Guard Auxiliary Bob Fesko and his crew are here to do Boat Inspections today, a sign-up sheet was passed around. Bob also delivered the Coast Guard Stickers to those members having their boats Inspected January 3. Bob said his highest priority is Boater Safety. His crew is also available to inspect canoes, kayaks and paddle boards.
FISH FRY DINNER: Jim Waller announced March 24 at noon is the date for our dinner for members only. He has a list of people already signed up to donate fish. It will be held in the Paradise Bay Hall.
