The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by President Carl Shaver, 72 members present and 3 guests from the Coast Guard.  Opening prayer was observed, Treasurer report & Secretary minutes were read and approved.

Vice President Gary Armour:  Coast Guard Boat Inspections today, signs up sheets for Boat Inspections, Easter Dinner volunteers, November 4, 2019 PB Coffee Hour and Fish fry Dinner being passed around.  Also passing Get well cards for Don Domrose and Sympathy card for family of Don Farthing.

Discussion regarding new FWC Fishing regulations.

MOTION:  Continue awarding full prize amount for Contest tie’s.  PASSED.

Boat Assist List:  Gene Severson 810-499-2698 will be updating the list.

Dockmaster’s Report: John Mattei reported the waiting list is posted on the board down by docks.  Please shut off shore water after cleaning your boat. Store trailers without locks, have name, phone numbers on trailers.  Don Vogel reported the pilings are here, Quality Marine will begin installation in a few days. He, Jim Gath and Dan Wilder met with neighbors and received donations that will be given to  Paradise Bay Estates for the channel installations. These donations do not go toward our club.

MOTION:  An additional $359.22 needed above the $1,600.00 already voted on for the costs of the lights and bird spikes for the new channel markers.  PASSED.

Bob Schooks representing the Coast Guard recommended electronic flares which do not have an expiration date, he brought one for an example.

Ted Wilcox thanked the club for the donation to the Sarasota Bay RV activity club, a thank you card was read.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS:  Carl Shaver announced Tom Dick will be serving as the Membership Chairman next year.

MOTION:  Elect current officers PASSED.

Carl asked for a volunteer for a Chairman to handle sales of Shirts, Hats and Soap, Beth Case volunteered.  

Easter Dinner:  Susan Miller only 6 people signed up to help with dinner, more volunteers needed.

Fish Dinner:  Jim Waller announced 100 people have signed up, so more fish are needed for the dinner.  This will be his last year, Norm Kitchen has agreed to take over next year.

Carl reported he wants more committee involvement in our club, please volunteer for a committee.

RAFFLE:  Betty Trader is the winner of a new hat.

MINUTES OF PARADISE BAY BOATING & FISHING CLUB MEETING

Club Officers:

The 26TH Annual Chili luncheon meeting was called to order at 11:00 AM by President Carl Shaver, 85 members present and 2 Coast Guard Auxiliary.  Opening prayer was observed. Member count is 186 with 45 new members in January.

 Vice President Gary Armour announced Boat Club hats and t shirts are available for sale in the Computer room following our luncheon.  Signups for the Fish Fry on March 22 and CPR/AED classes March 1.

Minutes were read and approved after corrections. Treasurer’s Report read and approved.

Fish Contest Awards were presented. Upcoming contests Women’s Only February 7th, One Day February 21st.

Thanks to everyone for another successful Frank & Bean Dinner.  Ken Huizinga and John Kalman have agreed to host again next year.  Joyce Shaver thanks for handing ticket distributions and counts.  The Raffle handled by Jim Waller, Jerry Brooks and Lenny Matinen rewarded the club with $422.00 A huge thank you to all the volunteers.

Boat Assist List:  New updated list today, several members have been rescued by volunteers on this list. 

DOCKMASTER:  John Mattei reported docks cost $423.72 per year; the waiting list is at the end of 2nd street.  Rules are currently being revised and will be out next season.  The Code for locks is 5555 for the ramp and storage area.  We are getting quotes for the new Channel markers.  Don Vogel gave a presentation to the PB Board and it was a unanimous vote to have all 20 markers installed.

Coast Guard Boat Inspections following today’s luncheon, Sal Magro will return if needed.

Tom Dick reported on a Coast Guard App for your phone, Norm Kitchen reported this app does not work if you are very many miles away from shore.

MOTION: Donate $250 to Paradise Bay Activity and $250 to SaraBay Activity, discussion followed, Motion was amended to donate $450 to PB and $250 to SaraBay, Motion PASSED.

March is election of Officers, Carl asked for volunteers for a Nominating Committee, no one volunteered.

We will continue the Hat Raffle at the next Meeting March 5th.

The meeting was opened at 9:00 AM by President Carl Shaver with 95
members present. Carl thanks everyone for hosting Coffee Hour. A
plaque with a Lifetime Membership for Frank Chan was presented and
card sent around for signatures.


The minutes and Treasurer’s report were read and approved.


Vice President Gary Armour has hats and t shirts available. The CPR
Class will be held in March, signup sheets passed.
Jim Wahler brought the natural soap guaranteed to remove fish smell from
your hands. We will have this for sale at each meeting.
Boat Assist List passed around; please make any corrections or additions
to your information.
Fish Awards were rewarded. Discussion regarding adding Permit,
consensus was NO.


DOCKMASTER REPORT: John Mattei reminded boaters to check your
ropes at the docks. Trailers in storage need to have your name on them.
There are currently 50 people on the wait list.
Don Vogel reported we are waiting on Board approval for the channel
posts, permits are ready. The estimated cost is $12,500, lights $1,600.
Ten markers are planned for replacement but there are twenty needing
done. Volunteers will be needed to put signs and lights on the new
markers. Quality Marine will be doing installation of the channel markers.


January 26 is the Frank & Bean Dinner, volunteers are still needed.
March 1 the CPR/AED Classes will be held in Paradise Bay Hall.
Jim Waller has a signup sheet for the upcoming Fish Fry Luncheon.
Discussion on having a raffle at each meeting, it was decided to continue
and the winner receives a Hat.


MOTION: Jerry Kozminsky the Club should award President Carl Shaver a
New Boat Club T shirt, PASSED.
Ed Bolander reported that George Hubner passed last Friday.

MINUTES OF PARADISE BAY BOATING & FISHING CLUB MEETING

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by President Carl Shaver, 65 members present. Opening prayer was observed. Vice President Gary Armour handed out signup sheets for PB Coffee Hour Jan 7, Coast Guard Boat Inspections Jan 8 and Frank & Bean Dinner Volunteers. Boat Club hats and t shirts are available for sale.

Treasurer’s Report and Minutes were read and approved.

Fish Contest Awards were presented. Next Contest Date is December 6th, Rain date December 7th. All Daily and Monthly Contests end at 5:00 PM please have your fish measured by two club member witnesses and posted by 5 PM.

MOTION: Add Permit and Bluefish to the contest list of award fish until Redfish and Snook are legal fish to keep by law FWC. Motion Passed.

DOCKMASTER: John Mattei reported upcoming projects include new channel markers, ramp improvements and security cameras. Please put your name on your boat trailer in the storage lot. The waiting list for a boat dock has 60 people. Summer dock rentals are available May through October.

Boat Assist List: Don Domrose has the list available. Please contact him for any additions, subtractions or corrections. This list is valuable if you need help out boating.

MOTION: Club pays for coffee and donuts for members volunteering during PB Coffee Hour on January 7, 2019. Motion Passed.

Frank Chan, our past president was visiting SB Park last week. He paid his dues for this season. Frank was an asset to our club for many years. He and his wife JoAnn have moved and would enjoy a card or letter from our members. Their address is:

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by President Carl Shaver, 48 members present. Opening prayer was observed .

Treasurer’s Report and Minutes were read and approved.

Don Vogel gave an update on the channel markers. They may cost more than originally thought. Permits for this project have been issued.

MOTION: Put an additional $600.00 in escrow for the channel markers. Motion Passed.

Jim Gath and Don Vogel volunteered to talk to neighbors along the canal to possibly donate for this project.

Next Contest Date is November 15th, Rain date 16th.

Red Tide is here but it changes almost daily. Check with FWC website for updates. Larry Blank reported he caught snook, reds and trout in Palma Sola recently.

FWC have Redfish and Snook on a catch and release list. Discussion regarding these two species being taken off our Contest Boards, it was decided to remove them until FWC allows their harvest.

Thank you to Gee Stepansky for putting up the November Contest boards complete with pictures of the fish.

Vice President Gary Armour has hats and t shirts for sale.

Boat Assist List is available. Please check with Gary Armour for any additions or subtractions .

Paradise Bay Newsletters are available online or pick up a copy in the PB Office. Deadline for articles to be submitted is the 25th of each month.
