The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by President, Carl Shaver, 74 members present and one Guest Speaker. Carl Thanked all for helping with the Chili Luncheon and especially John Jelinek for the delicious Chili.
The minutes were read and approved, Treasurer’s report for January and February read and approved.
Carl read a Thank you card from Sarasota Bay Activity for our $300.00 donation, verbal Thank you for our $500.00 donation to Paradise Bay Activity Groups. The Frank & Bean Raffle had 3 winners of $153.00 each, the last ticket took almost a month to be awarded. Discussion regarding how long to wait for a winning ticket before returning the money to our treasury. The Executive Board will work on this decision.
VICE PRESIDENT REPORT: The Coast Guard inspected 39 Boats this season, the CPR/AED Class had 26 people attending. Hats and shirts are available. Norm Kitchen is in charge of the March 27th Fish Fry Dinner. Sign-up sheets for attendance and to volunteer were passed around. Norm is collecting prizes to be awarded at this luncheon.
Contest Awards were presented. March 5, One Day Contest will be a double day. With separate sign in sheets for Men and Women to replace the February Women’s Only Contest. Non-Award Day Contest is March 19.
DOCKMASTER’S REPORT: John Mattei reported 11 docks were awarded recently. There are 57 on the PB wait list and 5 on the Sarasota Bay wait list. The Lights on the docks have been fixed and will soon be replaced with LED bulbs. When you leave your boat & trailer in the lot, please do not lock your trailer tongue, or leave any items on the ground in the lot.
Don Vogel reported the cost for the repairs to the 5th street ramp came in at $122,000 which is much greater than anticipated. This project is on hold.
EASTER DINNER: Susan Miller passed a sign-up sheet for volunteers for this dinner April 12. We will be hosting this dinner again this year. Tickets will be available at Coffee Hours.
Jim McDaniel, Director of Development, The Center of Anna Maria Island was our special speaker. Their Go Green Initiative is to improve Mind, Body, Spirit, Wellness of our community. As of November 16, 2019, 104 Mini Reefs have been installed along the Island. These are attached to docks and serve as fish habitat’s and attract oysters, crabs and act as a nursery for fish. His presentation was excellent and well organized with scientific information explaining the uses and purpose of these Mini Reef’s. Once colonized these Mini Reef’s provide water filtration by the oysters making the water healthier with higher oxygen content. They have a 10-15-year lifespan with minimal maintenance such as possibly changing the attachment ropes. Most of the materials are recyclable. June 2019 a Grant was awarded by FWC Red Tide Mitigation Technical Development Initiative. They are available from the Center for $350.00.

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by President, Carl Shaver, 91 members present. 6 Coast Guard Auxiliary Guests. Treasurer Report and Secretary Minutes were read and approved.
VICE PRESIDENT REPORT: Sign-up sheets were passed around for the Coast Guard Boat Inspection, CPR/AED Refresher Course and Fish Fry Luncheon.
Frank & Bean Dinner: Ken Huizinga and John Kalman are requesting volunteers for our 28th year and sign-up sheets were passed out. Tickets were also distributed; members were asked to commit to their street for ticket sales.
Fishing Contest Awards were presented. Discussion regarding the Rules for the One Day Contests. No One Day fish caught may be posted on the monthly board. FWC: Snook and Redfish are still catch and Release. Starting February 1, 2020 Trout may be kept, slot is 15-19” with one fish per vessel over slot, the new Ruling is 3 Trout per angler.
Tom Guinan is researching mini reef’s built by Ocean Habitats. There are numerous articles in the Sun and Islander regarding these. Also, great fishing reports in these weekly local papers.
DOCKMASTER REPORT: John Mattei 2020 Dock Fees are Due. Copies of the New Boat Dock Rules are available. Trailers need to be moved in the Storage lot, please do not lock trailer tongue. Don Vogel reported 5th street launch project ongoing. The Channel lights were recently reconfigured to Coast Guard Regulations.
Boat Assist List: Jim Gath has updated this list, copies are available. Please contact Jim if you have changes to your posted information. Current sheets were passed out for corrections or additions.
Fish Fry Dinner March 27th: Norm Kitchen reported fish are still needed for this luncheon. Please see Norm or Gary Armour if you have fish to donate. Door prizes are also needed.
COAST GUARD: Tom Alvord, Commander and Patrick Canavan, Vice Commander, from Flotilla 81, GT Bray Park, and their crew were available for Boat Inspections. Boater Safety is very important. They recommend 3 key issues when boating.

The meeting was called to order at 11:00 AM by President, Carl Shaver, 108 members present, 2 Coast Guard Auxiliary Guests and 2 Special Speaker Guests.
Carl thanked all who volunteered for the Frank & Bean Dinner, special thanks to Ken Huizinga and John Kalman! There were 632 tickets sold, 559 meals served, 50/50 $917.00 with three winners of $153.00. Profit estimate $1,647.00. A Full Treasurer’s Report will be at the March meeting. Contest Awards were presented. Minutes were read and approved.
VICE PRESIDENT REPORT: Hats and Shirts are available. Coast Guard Inspection today after the luncheon. CPR/AED sign-up sheets passed around.
Discussion on the confusion regarding the FWC Trout Regulations. Marcia Monroe and Gary Armour presented further research. Trout is Catch & Release through May 31, 2020.
DOCKMASTER’S REPORT: 7-8 Docks were awarded in January. Don Vogel and Jerry Kozminski repainted numbers on sea wall.

Paradise Bay Artificial Reef Study: Tom Guinan and Gary Plum researching for March 3 meeting with full report. Jim McDaniels, Anna Maria Director of Development has been invited to our March meeting.
Special Speakers George Halper, President and Brian Lewis, Secretary Treasurer from the Florida Fisheries Foundation Presentation with information on building oyster habitat’s for installation under docks. They are also building a Fish Hatchery in Bokeelia, Florida. Their foundation is a Non-Profit with members including Current and Former Fishing Guides. They also brought a sample of their Oyster Habitat’s. Question and Answer Period Followed.

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by President, Carl Shaver, 65 members present. Treasurer Report and Secretary Minutes were read and approved.
VICE PRESIDENT REPORT: Sign-up sheets were passed around for the January 6 PB Coffee Hour, Coast Guard Boat Inspection January 7, CPR/AED Refresher Course in March.
MOTION: Club pay for CPR/AED Class Fees. PASSED
Fishing Contest Awards were presented. Rick Plite reported fishing from the Jetty’s were more productive than from a boat this month. Try several types of bait, cut bait was catching sand perch near Egmont. Lizard Fish cut up caught Sand Perch.
DOCKMASTER REPORT: John Mattei Reported there are 107 docks, 28 are privately owned. Ten of the remaining docks will be Grandfathered in for Sarasota Bay RV Park Residents and 69 for Paradise Bay Estates Shareholders. One project completed recently was recalibrating the channel lights to Coast Guard Regulations.
New Projects: Power washing the Finger Docks. Don Vogel reported the 5thStreet Boat Ramp project is ongoing and will hopefully begin in January. This will include a concrete slab approximately 30’ out into the channel connected by Stainless Steel Cables. This will attach to the existing concrete approach. This project is expected to cost between $50 to $75,000. He is meeting with Engineers on the design in the next couple weeks.
There was discussion regarding the new Boat Dock Rules recently passed by Paradise Bay Board of Directors. John Mattei offered to discuss this further with anyone wanting to visit with him. The PB Board Votes on the Rules, The Dockmaster handles the Wait List and the position boats are located within the docks. Rick Plite requested further discussion on the Dock Rules to be added to the Meeting Agenda in the near future.
Boat Assist List: Thanks to Don Domrose and Gene Severson for handling this in the past. Jim Gath has offered to take over this important list.
The Frank & Bean Dinner will be January 25, 2020. Ken Huizinga discussed the need for volunteers to help with this dinner to make our fundraising a success. Raising the cost above $5.00 was discussed and decided to leave the price at $5.00.
The February meeting will be January 28, 2020 Chili Luncheon. George Halper, Floridafisheriesfoundation.org will be a special speaker on water quality and possible resolutions to fight Red Tide.
