Minutes of March 25, 2019 Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Peggy Neely at 10:30 a.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Prayer was said by Carl Shaver.
The minutes of the last meeting were posted. There were no additions or corrections so the minutes will stand as posted.
Treasurer’s report was given by Wendy Graf. The bank balance is $11,868.92. The report will stand as read.
President’s report-Peggy Neely-She wished everyone who is leaving a safe trip home.
Vice President’s report-Anne Osgood-The list of the officers of the Activities Committee and the heads of some of the activities in the 2019 Directory is not up to date. Therefore, if there are any new officers or chairpersons of an activity/club, please let Anne know. She is updating the list for 2019-2020. She plans to make copies available to pass out with the next newsletter. In order to have the most up to date list in the current directory, the next new directory will go to press in April 2020 and be available in the summer of 2020. That will make it possible to include any changes for 2020-2021.
Activity report/update
Dances-Debbie Greeves-There will be live music on Wed., March 27th at 5-8 p.m. behind the office. Bring a dish to pass, chairs, and coolers. She plans to make a request at the Board of Directors’ meeting in April for a large covered pavilion.
Woodshop-Bruce Wagner-Mary Fox reported that they have sold a lathe. They will be purchasing a new one.
Bayfront flowers-Tom Colson-We have enough waterers for the geraniums. We plan to take them down on April 24th. The people who would like to pick any up need to bring containers to put them in. Peggy stated that a large pot in front of the Rec. Hall was broken. Betty Trader made a motion to buy 2 pots costing up to $500.00. It was seconded by Sue Cassidy. It passed with a unanimous vote.
Ladies Friendship Club-Heidy Kiess-There was a Fashion show last Thursday with about 150 ladies attending. Our next meeting is April 10th. We have given away almost $3,000.00.
Boating & Fishing Club-Carl Shaver-We have 206 members. We will be assisting Susan Miller with the Easter Dinner on April 21st. A lot of people will be leaving the park to go home before then so they need volunteers other than members of the Boating and Fishing Club.
Bocce Club-Jim Kleiner-Bocce season and end of the year tournament are over. This Thursday is the Awards Banquet at Duff’s at 6 p.m.
Historical Committee-Brenda Ocenasek-Dick Estabrook is taking pictures of current activities. They are still doing interviews of people who have been in the park for a long time or know some who has to find out what it was like in the past.
Entertainment-Randy Darr-They ratified a set of By Laws. He gave the officers a copy for our records.

Old Business
Revised Rules-After a lot of discussion, there were four changes made to the revised Rules before they were voted on: under Section B. Executive Board, No. 6. Shall oversee all activities, clubs and organizations in Paradise Bay Estates was added and removed from the President’s duties; the time of the meeting was changed from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.; under Section H. Voting No. 1 A list of one representative from each activity and the Executive Board (the President does not vote unless there is a tie) will be used for all votes. Voting shall consist of a written vote or roll-call vote (decided by the Executive Board) by representatives on the current voting list replaced Four (4) officers of the Executive Board and all members who attend the Activities Committee meetings on a regular basis will have Voting Privileges ; No. 3. The Executive Board has the authority to stop the voting procedure as they deem necessary was removed. Karen R. read the changes that were made. Randy D. made a motion to accept the new Rules as were presented by the Secretary. Betty T. seconded the motion. A vote was taken with 20 voting yes and 2 voting no. Therefore, the new Rules with the changes were approved.
New Business
Election-Vice President and Treasurer-there were no new nominees for either office. Jim K. made a motion to reelect Anne Osgood as Vice President and Wendy Graf as Treasurer. Sue C. seconded the motion. It passed with a unanimous vote.
Election of Board Assistant-Peggy N. asked Shana Simison to be the new Board Assistant. She accepted the position. Carl S. made a motion to accept Shana S. as the new Board Assistant for a two year term. Heidy K. seconded the motion. It passed with a unanimous vote.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Joyce N. and seconded by Larry N. at 12 p.m.

Paradise Bay Activities Committee
Minutes of March 11, 2019 Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Peggy Neely at 9:30 a.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
The minutes of the last meeting were posted. A correction was made by Randy Darr for Entertainment that 117 season tickets had been sold not 217 that was stated in the minutes. Therefore, the minutes will stand as corrected.
Treasurer’s report was given by Wendy Graf. The bank balance is $11,558.30. The report will stand as read.
Peggy said there is pulled pork, root beer and iced tea left over from Bayfest. She would like to have a luncheon using those left overs. She asked everyone who is able to come to a luncheon on March 12th at 12 noon at the Paradise Bay Rec. Hall.

Activity report/update
Bocce Club-Jim Kleiner-our tournament is next week and our banquet will be after that.
Jim K. mentioned that every Monday Sarasota Bay has a coffee hour at 9:00 a.m. that conflicts with the Activities Committee meetings. Therefore, that could be the reason why they do not attend the meetings. Also, he stated that he and other people he has spoken to would like only one meeting a month instead of two. Jim Kleiner made a motion to have only one meeting a month. Heidy Kiess seconded the motion. There was a lot of discussion from people both for and against the motion. A vote was taken with 6 voting yes and 11 voting no. Therefore, the motion did not pass. Carl Shaver made a motion to change the time of the Activities Committee meetings from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Debbie Greeves seconded the motion. A vote was taken with 15 voting yes and 2 voting no. Therefore, the motion did pass.
Entertainment-Randy Darr-he would like anyone interested to help him clean up the room next to the stage that they use for a dressing room for entertainers. Sue Cassidy said she would help him.
Ladies Friendship Club-Heidy Kiess- we had another successful Hot Dog and Bake Sale last Saturday. We sold out 350 hot dogs. This coming Wednesday is our luncheon at 1 p.m. and all ladies are invited to come. Our Fashion Show is March 21st. Tickets are $3.00. Several ladies are selling them. They will, also, be on sale at the coffee hour.
Dances-Debbie Greeves-the music at Bayfest was very well attended. There were 128 tickets sold for the dance last Saturday. There will be season tickets for next year’s dances.
Boating & Fishing Club-Carl Shaver-there are 263 members. We will be having a free fish dinner on March 22nd for members only. We will be hosting the coffee hour in November because a lot of our members are already here. Also, we will be hosting the coffee hour in January to promote the Frank and Bean dinner. Next year, we will host the Easter Dinner on April 12, 2020. Our members are putting in Channel markers.
Clogging-Pat Dombrowski-she is replacing Glenda Mattinen.
Sunshine Club-Carl Shaver told us that Joyce Shaver will be replacing Cora Brooks as President. They had good attendance at their last luncheon on Friday. Members send cards to people who are ill. If you know of anyone who is ill, please let Joyce know.
Welcome Reception- Carl Shaver said that Joyce Shaver will still be in charge of the reception in January for new residents.
Pancake Breakfast-Arlene Sharpsten-the last pancake breakfast is this Friday.
Bayfront Flowers-Tom Colson-the flowers are scheduled to come down the first week in April unless there are volunteers to water them. Sue Cassidy said she would water them for a week or so.
Cards(Euchre Monday Night)-Mary Fox-we are still playing.
Woodshop-Mary Fox reported for Bruce Wagner-there are over 200 members including 29 women. They purchased 4 new machines to replace old ones. They sold almost $1,000.00 of “Treasures” last Saturday. Please do not donate “junk” because we can’t sell it and have to throw it away.
Old Business
Place mats-Peggy asked the coffee servers to throw away the used place mats. Also, ask them to wipe the laminated National Anthem sheets.
New Business
Revised Rules-they were distributed. They will be voted on at our next meeting, March 25th. Due to the fact we voted to change the meeting time from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., it will change D. Meetings no. 1.
Nominations for Vice Chairperson and Treasurer-the Nominating Committee had no new nominations. Therefore, Anne Osgood is the only nominee for Vice Chairperson and Wendy Graf is the only nominee for Treasurer. The election will be at the next meeting, March 25th.
Christmas Open House on Christmas Eve-Peggy N. asked if anyone would coordinate this event. Shana S. said she would. Sue C. and Kathleen said they would help her.
Italian Dinner-Peggy N. asked if anyone would coordinate this event. Jean C. suggested a check list be written down. Peggy N. said she could do that. It was suggested that an article be put in the newsletter asking for an Italian Dinner Coordinator and volunteers.
Bayfest-Pickle Ball members will do the luncheon again next year.

Paradise Bay Activities Committee
Minutes of February 25, 2019 Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Peggy Neely at 9:45 a.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Treasurer’s report was given by Wendy Graf. She stated that the Ladies Friendship Club donated $200.00 and purchased the can opener for $102.00 being used in the kitchen. Also, the pancake breakfast made $348.00. Thank you to Arlene and her helpers. The bank balance is $9,201.25. There were no questions about the report. The report will stand as read.
Wendy, also, said that any club that has a separate account needs to submit a financial report for the past year to her first then she will give it to the office. She has the form that needs to be filled out.
Karen Rimatzki stated that the minutes from the previous meeting were posted. There was one correction that will be made. The minutes will stand approved as corrected.
Karen R. mentioned the signup sheet for email addresses is available.
New Business
Peggy N. mentioned there is not enough room to post all the Activities Committee’s information on the bulletin board in the Hall. Therefore, she is going to ask Sue Miller about putting some items on the Travel bulletin board.
Peggy N. asked Jean C., Brenda O. and Mary F. to be on the Nominating Committee for the election on March 25th. They agreed to do so.
Peggy N. said we should not reuse the place mats from the coffee hours because doing so could spread germs. Sally S. made a motion that we do not reuse the place mats. It was seconded by Irene C. It passed with a unanimous vote. At the next coffee hour, Peggy will suggest that everyone throw away the place mat they use.
Peggy asked that anyone using the tables to clean them afterwards.
Bayfest-Peggy Neely-we will meet at the Sarabay Rec Hall at 8:45 a.m. on Sat., March 2nd for the parade. Lunch will be in the Hall at 12-2 p.m. The Golf Cart Rodeo will be at 3-4:30 p.m. The band will set up in the carport at the office. There will be a food tent selling food during the dance. Peggy asked for each person to sell 20 tickets for the lunch and turn in the money to her as soon as possible. That will help determine how much to purchase for the lunch. Tickets will, also, be sold at the door. Debbie G. will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets during the dance. Everyone who purchases a ticket will receive a little prize. There will, also, be a 50/50 raffle at the lunch.
Peggy mentioned that the Italian dinner was a huge success. We fed over 200 people. She thanked everyone for all their help.
Activity reports/updates
Art Class-Marilyn Morrisey-Art Show is March 17th in the Paradise Rec Hall at 1-3 p.m.
Entertainment- They sold 117 season tickets. They will be selling them again at the next show.
Trivia Challenge-Gerry Estabrook & Sally Seighman-it went very well. They are willing to do it again next year, if there are other people willing to coordinate it for one or two months. There would need to be 2 people for each month to prepare the trivia sheets and be in charge. That way Gerry and Sally would get to play, too.
Boating and Fishing Club-Carl Shaver-our next meeting is March 5th. The Coast Guard Auxiliary will be doing safety inspections. There will not be a CPR training this year. The Fish & Wildlife Commission are in the area doing DUI enforcement. They have been parking in the “Million Dollar” lot. We will host the coffee hour in November.
Peggy mentioned the Manatee County Sheriff Dept. will be bringing two canines to the March 18th coffee hour.
Memorial Service-Anne O. told us the service will be on March 17th at 6 p.m. There will be light refreshments. Anyone attending is welcome to bring finger food.

Paradise Bay Activities Committee
Minutes of February 11, 2019 Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Peggy Neely at 9:45 a.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Prayer was led by Dan Smith.
Minutes from the previous meeting were posted and accepted as posted.
Karen Rimatzki had a signup sheet for new email addresses of anyone who would like the minutes or any correspondence sent to them. If you are already receiving them, there is no need to sign up.
Treasurer’s report was given by Wendy Graf. The bank balance is $9,049.27. There were no questions about the report. The report will stand as read.
Old Business
Newsletter-Anne will be submitting the Activities Committee Newsletter information to Joyce. It will be type written and will need to appear in the Newsletter as written (minus any typos that may need correcting).
Peggy said a check for up to $600.00 needs to be given to Karen Bonofiglio which was approved at our last meeting.
Club/Activity treasurer’s report-for the Clubs/Activities that have a separate account from the Activities Committee account, please submit a treasurer’s report to Wendy no later than April 15, 2019.
New Business
March Elections-the election for the Vice Chairperson and Treasurer will be held on the second meeting in March. If anyone is interested in either position, please let Peggy know.
Italian Dinner-Peggy stated that a lot of people are needed to help before, during and after the dinner. A signup sheet was passed around for people to volunteer to help with the various duties. Peggy mentioned that she will possibly be getting a club membership to a restaurant supply place for the Activities Committee. This would help to purchase items for the dinners.
There was a lot of discussion about the supplies and items in the kitchen being used for personal functions. This is an expense to the Activities Committee. Also, some items such as utensils are missing. It was suggested there be a fee or make sure people bring their own supplies.
New Registration Chair is Shana Simison.
Phyllis C. and Gerry E. will continue to do the design for the tickets for next season but will need someone to pick them up.
Heidy suggested a “Souper” (soup/supper) to make money for the Activities Committee. Three Clubs each make a different soup and another club makes a dessert. These items would all be donated so there would be no expense to the Activities Committee. Sell tickets for around $6.00. If there were about 300 people served, we would make $1,800.00.
Bayfest-Pickleball members will be serving the luncheon. They will, also, clean up and move the tables and chairs to make room for the dance afterwards.
Memorial Service-Anne has been attempting to find out who is in charge of the Memorial Service and determine when it is going to be held. She will follow up on contacting the necessary people. The tentative date will be March 10th.
Bible Study-Dan Smith-He is wondering what the maximum amount of people are allowed in the Annex by the Fire Marshall. There has been up to 40 people attending the bible study so he doesn’t want to me in violation. Peggy said she would find out and let him know.
Kitchen supplies-Sue Cassidy-She said she appreciates that everyone cleans the kitchen and the hall after they use it. If there is any laundry that needs to done, please let her know. Also, Sue thanked Jean Colson for allowing a table at the Bazaar for the Library. They did the best they ever did.
Bocce-Jim Kleiner-They had their Fun Tournament on Thursday. It was a great success.
Ladies Friendship Club-Heidy Kiess-Five move-in kits that were packed for the homeless veterans who have found a place to live were delivered to Turning Points. She put together ten hygiene kits from donated items. The luncheon meeting is this Wed. at 1 p.m. and all ladies are welcome. We will be packing six more move-in kits. The items included in the kits amount to approximately $50.00. The can opener for the kitchen that was paid for by the Activities Committee last month should have been paid for by the Ladies Friendship Club. It was approximately $103.00. Therefore, the Ladies Friendship Club will reimburse the Activities Committee that amount.
Craft & Hobby Shows-Jean Colson-We had a wonderful Bazaar on Sat., Feb. 2nd. There were 16 vendors who paid a total of $180.00. After the expenses, we made $131.00. Jean suggested getting lanyards that say vendor. This would identify the vendors who need access to the hall and kitchen. She, also, mentioned there was a problem with the air conditioning. Peggy mentioned that it was broken. Jean said the sign by the road should be repaired or replaced. Debbie Greeves stated that vistaprint.com makes banners that are cheaper than other places.
Dances-Debbie Greeves-Last spring, there was a suggestion to bring live music to Bayfest. Therefore, we are paying $850.00 for the band for Bayfest as a donation to the Activities Committee. All 120 tickets were sold for last Saturday’s Dance. Eric Von was our entertainer and he “wowed’ the crowd. We’ve already booked him for next year. We plan to have three dances next year. For Bayfest, we will be posting the menu for the food tent that will be set up at 4:30 p.m. in front of the Paradise Bay Rec Hall. Family Fixins’ is selling the food.
Trivia Challenge-Gerry Estabrook-Today is the last day for signup for the Trivia Challenge on Fri., Feb. 15th at 1 p.m. We have enough teams to go ahead but will accept more until the end of day because we need to know how many sheets to prepare. Spectators will be allowed to watch from seats that are off to the side.
Health-Rainy Dula-The Health Fair and the Blood Mobile will be on Wed., Feb. 27th at Paradise Bay Rec Hall. There’s a signup sheet to donate blood on the bulletin board in the Hall. One pint of donated blood can be used for up to three people. Sam’s Club will be providing refreshments. Rainy has enough people to help serve them.

Paradise Bay Activities Committee
Minutes of January 28, 2019 Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Peggy Neely at 9:32 a.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Treasurer’s report was given by Wendy Graf. The total income was $498.50 and expenses were $795.50 for the last 2 weeks. The bank balance is $8,915.68. There were no questions about the report. The report will stand as read.
Minutes from the last meeting have not been posted so Karen Rimatzki read them. Several corrections need to be made to those minutes. The corrections will be made and a revised version will be posted and an approval requested at the next meeting.
New Business
Peggy read a thank you card from Phyllis Cook for the plant that the Activities Committee sent her. She sent a $100.00 donation from the Ladies Friendship Club. Karl Cook’s Memorial Service will be at the West Bradenton Baptist Church on 43rd St. on Sat., Feb. 2nd at 11:00 a.m.. There will be a luncheon at SaraBay after the service.
Bayfest-Peggy Neely-Sat., March 2nd, 2019. The parade will be at 9:30-11 a.m., lunch at 12-2 p.m., Golf Cart Rodeo at 3-4:30 p.m., and a Dance with a Band playing in Paradise Bay Rec. Hall at 5-8 p.m. There will be a Food truck selling food during the time the Band is playing. Lunch will be served by the Pickle Ball members. Lunch will cost $5.00. The menu consists of pulled pork sandwiches or hot dogs, chips, and root beer floats.
Peggy N. stated that Karen B. from the Entertainment Committee at SaraBay is requesting $500 to $600 to help pay for the shows they booked last year for this year’s entertainment. There was an increase they weren’t anticipating. The amount they are requesting is approximately half of the total due. Sally S. made a motion to split the increased Entertainment fees with SaraBay up to $600.00. The motion was seconded by Glenda M. It passed with a unanimous voice vote.
Boating and Fishing Club-Carl Shaver-we had a very successful Frank & Bean dinner. We sold 608 tickets and served 556 dinners. There was a raffle with 3 winners, each winning $135.00. There were a lot of positive comments about good food and a friendly atmosphere. Carl was asked about possibly buying a second refrigerator for the Paradise Bay Rec Hall. When a lot of food needs to be stored in a refrigerator for any of the meals being served there, having only one refrigerator is not enough. Carl asked if possibly the Activities Committee would like to split the cost with the Boating and Fishing Club. He didn’t know the cost and hadn’t asked the Boating and Fishing Club yet, but was just wondering how the Activities Committee felt about splitting the cost. There was a lot of discussion concerning this issue. Several people felt a request should be made to the Park Manager/Board of Directors to purchase the refrigerator. Peggy N. said she would do that.
Bible Study-Dan Smith-we started meeting on Jan. 10th. We have a lot of new people that found out about the Bible Study at the Welcome Reception. We are very grateful for that.
Craft & Hobby Shows-Jean Colson-the Craft & Hobby Bazaar is Sat., Feb. 2nd at 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in Paradise Bay Rec Hall. The Hall will be closed on Friday, Feb. 1st starting at 3 p.m. to set up.
Trivia Challenge-Gerry Estabrook-Sally Seighman- they told the people at SaraBay Hall about the Trivia Challenge and they seemed enthused. There are flyers in both halls to sign up. It will be held on Friday, Feb. 15th at Paradise Bay Rec Hall at 1-3 p.m. Teams consist of 1 to 4 people.
Entertainment-the committee has selected five acts for 2020. The next show on Feb. 7th is Cahal Dunne at 7 p.m. Tickets will be on sale at the door at 6 p.m.
Historical Committee-Brenda Ocenasek-in the process of copying the photo booklets. We are looking for interesting stories from longtime residents. Dick Estabrook will be taking pictures of different activities. We still need pictures that are from recent activities.
Health Committee-Rainy Dula-the Health Fair and Blood Mobile will be Feb. 27th at Paradise Bay Rec Hall. There will be a raffle every half hour and final drawing at the end.
Bocce-John S. mentioned that Bocce is on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Fridays for anyone who is interested.

Dances-Mary Fox said she has tickets for Eric Von on Feb. 9th at Paradise Bay Rec Hall at 6:30-9:30 p.m. The tickets are going fast.
Woodshop-Wendy G. told us that the Trash & Treasure Sale is this Sat., Feb. 2nd. If you have any donations, please do not put them in the building where the newspapers are; take them to the Woodshop. The next regular meeting is on Feb. 4th at 1 p.m. at SaraBay Hall. Anyone can join. The membership fee is $20.00 and $10.00 for a locker. The Rigatoni Dinner will be on Feb. 8th at the Paradise Bay Rec Hall. Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased from any member. The dinner includes rigatoni, bread, salad, beverage, etc.
Peggy stated that the Thanksgiving Dinner will be served by the Shuffleboard Club. The Christmas Dinner will be done by a group from the Bocce Club. The Easter Dinner will be coordinated by Susan Miller and served by the Boating and Fishing Club.
Bingo-Peggy N.-there have been a lot of people attending. Last Monday, there were 173.
