Paradise Bay Activities Committee

Minutes of December 12, 2022

The meeting was called to order by Carl K. at 10:00 a.m.

Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Prayer was said by Carl K.

Present were: Carl Kerr and Jim Gath the Co-Presidents, Shana Simison: Vice President, Wendy Graf: Treasurer, Donna M.: board assistant and 30 members.

Secretary’s Report: A motion made by Jim G. and seconded by Wendy G. to approve the November 28, 2022 minutes with no corrections or any additions.

Treasurer’s Report: Balance on hand is $8,900 in checking. Checks for geranium planting, $471.65 and Gordons $28.87 to be subtracted from balance.

Co-President’s Report: Jim was approached with a request for a golf simulator in the park. Three locations suggested: R.V. parking lot, Helm’s house, and laundry area. With a show of hands for interest, 12 out of 29 people were interested. This is an ongoing project that is being pursued. Party at Marilyn Batten’s, Thursday the 15th from 4:00-6:00p.m. Considering this to be a monthly event. Bring snacks to share. Discussed having a “Gloria Day” for our mail lady, who’s retiring, putting balloons on all mail boxes and possibly a party with her family, etc. Also, a box for cards to show appreciation.

Vice President’s Report: Christmas Open House will be Dec. 24th from 6:30-9:00 p.m.

Old Business: Nothing discussed

New Business:

Bill, Sara, and Kathy came from Sara Bay and would like to see more sharing of information on all the park activities at Welcome Receptions, Activity Meetings, and Newsletters. They also want to meet for further planning.

Committee reports/update:

Dance- Debbie G. New Year’s Eve Dance 9:00-12:00 p.m. with Grill Cheese Truck serving from 4:30-7:30 p.m. The fund raiser dance with Lou Russ to play is scheduled Feb.25th with location and time to be discussed. No food for Bayfest has been planned.

Boating/fishing-Chris M. introduced new President Ron Prieskorn. Talked about the one day fishing contest, boat inspection 1-21-2023 and boating safety class 1-22-2023 with Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Bingo- Joyce F. and Joyce N. presented a check for $152 dollars to Activities Committee.

Friendship Club-Susan M. reported the Blood Drive collected 19 units of blood, a good turn-out. She thanked all involved with craft show, luncheon, and bake sale. Money raised was $1,300. Next Friendship Club meeting and luncheon will be Wed. December 14th at 1:00 p.m.

Wood Shop-Rick said Trash/Treasure raised $1,217 dollars. Classes will start in Jan. Membership fee is $30.00 and meetings are first Monday of the month.

Euchre- Mary F. NO games in Dec. and will start on Jan. 2nd. Monday at 6:30 SHARP.

Historical Committee- Brenda O. Needs volunteers.

Horseshoes- Tom F. games start with warm-ups at 8:45 a.m. on Fridays.

Bocce- Tom B.- Practice starting Friday mornings at 9:30. Regular season to start on Jan. 11th. Hot dog sales are doing great.

Mahjong- Wendy G. Games on Fri. afternoon at 1:00.

Comments/Questions:

Betty T. asked about the table covers needed. Carl K. reported prices $1.25 for plastic from the dollar store, clear plastic covers $10.00 from Amazon, and linen $35-$85 each.

Linda-asked if something could be done to cover the back side of the piano. It doesn’t look good. Open for ideas. Linda also mentioned Charlie’s Party, held last Sat. and thanked everyone for coming and all the helpers involved. It was a great time.

A complaint was raised about the new electric sign board. Jim and Carl both said the issue was being discussed and aware it’s too bright at times.

A motion to adjourn was made by Carl K. and seconded by Wendy G. at 11:10.
