Minutes of January 13, 2020 Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Peggy Neely at 10:00 a.m.                           

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Prayer was said by Dan Smith.

The minutes of the last meeting were posted. There were two corrections made, a change of the time for the Pancake Breakfast and a change to the Boating and Fishing Club report. Therefore, the minutes will stand as corrected.

Treasurer’s report was given by Wendy Graf. The bank balance is $8,773.92. The report will stand as read.

President’s report-Peggy Neely-She is in the process of labeling and distributing the new keys. Please do not lend any keys. Also, some items, i.e. big spoons, forks, sugar, etc. are missing from the kitchen that need to be replaced which is an added expense. If anyone sees someone taking any of our supplies, please say something. Please clean the tables and area after your club or activity group has completed your event. The cleaner is under the sink in the kitchen. It was mentioned to make sure to use the one that says, “For Food Processing Area”. If anyone has taken any items from the kitchen, please return them.

Bocce Club-Jim Kleiner-volunteers from the club will take care of the next Christmas dinner.

New Business

Irish Dancing will start on Wednesday, January 15th at 6-8 p.m.

Activity report/update

 Trivia Challenge-Gerry Estabrook & Sally Seighman-Sally stated that no one from Sarabay has signed up, yet. There are only 5 teams from Paradise Bay signed up so far for the Trivia on Friday, January 17 at 1-3 p.m. They plan to have it this time but if there isn’t more interest, they might not continue.

Entertainment-Burt Sine stated the first show of six was last Thursday. We had a full hall. All the season tickets are sold. There are about 20 tickets sold at the door. We went to Haines City to preview 50 acts for our consideration for 2021. We will be deciding which acts for next year.

Ladies Friendship Club-Susan Miller-the Craft Bazaar Luncheon and raffle will be on February 1st. We would appreciate any baked goods donated to our luncheon. Our style show will be February 27th at 1-3 p.m. brought to you by Bealls. Tickets for the show will be for sale at the coffee hours in February and possibly in January. Joyce Nicholson will be in charge of a committee to welcome new residents.

Newsletter-Joyce Nicholson-she would like to do an article about a new resident each month in future newsletters. She did it once this summer. If anyone knows of someone new to the Park, please let her know so she can contact them.

Euchre-Mary Fox-we still play on Monday at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $1.00. Everyone is welcome.

Woodshop-Mary Fox stated that Trash & Treasure in on February 1st. They will pick up large items that are in good shape. The Rigatoni Dinner is February 7th. Tickets are $5.00 and will be sold until February 4th. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Equipment and supplies were purchased with the funds earned last year.

Peggy mentioned that she has a membership card to Restaurant Depot, if anyone would like to use it. They sell supplies and food in bulk.

Bible Study-Dan Smith-we had our first bible study last Thursday with close to standing room only. He said thank you for the tv in the Annex. He appreciates having the day and time posted on the bulletin board and in the newsletter. They will be serving at the coffee hour on January 20th along with Woodshop.

Health Committee-Rainy Dula-Susan and Allan Miller will, now, be taking blood pressure after the coffee hours. The Health Fair will be on Wednesday, February 26th. There will, also, be a Bloodmobile.

Historical Committee-Brenda Ocenasek-we are still looking for more pictures of activities in the past. Anne O. offered to take pictures of current activities.

Boating and Fishing Club-Carl Shaver-Frank & Bean Dinner will be Saturday, January 25th. During the dinner, we will be showing slides on the screen. We would like to show pictures of other activities besides boating and fishing. If anyone has pictures of other activities, he would like you to email them to him or give him a usb drive.

Craft & Hobby Shows-Anne stated that Jean Colson has 19 vendors for the February 1st Craft Bazaar.

Golf League-Jim Gath-still meeting every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.

Mahjong-Wendy Graf-Anyone interested in learning to play is welcome. It’s on Fridays at 1-3 p.m. in the Annex.

Bid Euchre-Susan Miller-there hasn’t been enough people interested in playing so it will no longer be an activity.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Larry N. and seconded by Rainy D. at 11:13 a.m.
