Activity report/update

Bocce Club-Jim Kleiner-our tournament is next week and our banquet will be after that.

Jim K. mentioned that every Monday Sarasota Bay has a coffee hour at 9:00 a.m. that conflicts with the Activities Committee meetings. Therefore, that could be the reason why they do not attend the meetings. Also, he stated that he and other people he has spoken to would like only one meeting a month instead of two. Jim Kleiner made a motion to have only one meeting a month. Heidy Kiess seconded the motion. There was a lot of discussion from people both for and against the motion. A vote was taken with 6 voting yes and 11 voting no. Therefore, the motion did not pass. Carl Shaver made a motion to change the time of the Activities Committee meetings from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Debbie Greeves seconded the motion. A vote was taken with 15 voting yes and 2 voting no. Therefore, the motion did pass.

Entertainment-Randy Darr-he would like anyone interested to help him clean up the room next to the stage that they use for a dressing room for entertainers. Sue Cassidy said she would help him.

Ladies Friendship Club-Heidy Kiess- we had another successful Hot Dog and Bake Sale last Saturday. We sold out 350 hot dogs. This coming Wednesday is our luncheon at 1 p.m. and all ladies are invited to come. Our Fashion Show is March 21st. Tickets are $3.00. Several ladies are selling them. They will, also, be on sale at the coffee hour.

Dances-Debbie Greeves-the music at Bayfest was very well attended. There were 128 tickets sold for the dance last Saturday. There will be season tickets for next year’s dances.

Boating & Fishing Club-Carl Shaver-there are 263 members. We will be having a free fish dinner on March 22nd for members only. We will be hosting the coffee hour in November because a lot of our members are already here. Also, we will be hosting the coffee hour in January to promote the Frank and Bean dinner. Next year, we will host the Easter Dinner on April 12, 2020. Our members are putting in Channel markers.

Clogging-Pat Dombrowski-she is replacing Glenda Mattinen.

Sunshine Club-Carl Shaver told us that Joyce Shaver will be replacing Cora Brooks as President. They had good attendance at their last luncheon on Friday. Members send cards to people who are ill. If you know of anyone who is ill, please let Joyce know.

Welcome Reception- Carl Shaver said that Joyce Shaver will still be in charge of the reception in January for new residents.

Pancake Breakfast-Arlene Sharpsten-the last pancake breakfast is this Friday.

Bayfront Flowers-Tom Colson-the flowers are scheduled to come down the first week in April unless there are volunteers to water them. Sue Cassidy said she would water them for a week or so.

Cards(Euchre Monday Night)-Mary Fox-we are still playing.

Woodshop-Mary Fox reported for Bruce Wagner-there are over 200 members including 29 women. They purchased 4 new machines to replace old ones. They sold almost $1,000.00 of “Treasures” last Saturday. Please do not donate “junk” because we can’t sell it and have to throw it away.

Old Business

Place mats-Peggy asked the coffee servers to throw away the used place mats. Also, ask them to wipe the laminated National Anthem sheets.

New Business

Revised Rules-they were distributed. They will be voted on at our next meeting, March 25th. Due to the fact we voted to change the meeting time from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., it will change D. Meetings no. 1.

Nominations for Vice Chairperson and Treasurer-the Nominating Committee had no new nominations. Therefore, Anne Osgood is the only nominee for Vice Chairperson and Wendy Graf is the only nominee for Treasurer. The election will be at the next meeting, March 25th.

Christmas Open House on Christmas Eve-Peggy N. asked if anyone would coordinate this event. Shana S. said she would. Sue C. and Kathleen said they would help her.

Italian Dinner-Peggy N. asked if anyone would coordinate this event. Jean C. suggested a check list be written down. Peggy N. said she could do that. It was suggested that an article be put in the newsletter asking for an Italian Dinner Coordinator and volunteers.

Bayfest-Pickle Ball members will do the luncheon again next year.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Larry N. and seconded by Sue C. at 10:45 a.m.
