The Meeting Was called to order at 11:04 AM by President Rick Plite with 67 members present and several members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Rick thanked the Coast Guard for the Boater Safety Course held in January with 12 of our members.

The Egmont Key trip will be Feb 3, if cancelled a RED flag will be posted.  Another boat trip is scheduled for February 24, 2022, meet at end of our canal around 11:00 AM.

Pat Canavan from the Coast Guard Auxiliary is working on a Weekend Navigation course, it will be a 1-day class sometime in March.  He also advised people to check their boat fire extinguisher for a date on the bottom.  They are good for 10 years or if the arrow points to the green indicator.

Volunteers needed for the Cortez Fish Festival, Jim Gath and Scotty Yates have information for sign up.

Treasurers Report:  $4,125.71 in checking, $572.30 cash.  Fish Contest Awards available.

Frank & Bean Ticket refunds were available at this meeting, see an Officer if haven’t returned your ticket.

MOTION:  Schedule the Frank & Bean Dinner to last Saturday in February.  Discussion:  Ken Huizinga recommended this to give us more time to sell tickets.  He and John Kalman have agreed to host it 2023.

MOTION PASSED.

Dockmaster Report:  Scotty Yates has an updated Waiting List with 70 on the Paradise Bay and 10 Sarasota Bay.  The Board is working on New Rules, the 2019 Rules are available to pick up.  The Boat Assist List is also available.  Dock Fees Billing is changing to be sent out October 1 with Due November 1.  This gives the Dockmaster needed information on what docks will be available at the beginning of season.  Sarasota Bay RV Park has limited storage for Boats & Trailers, it is first come so check with Kelly in the RV Office for availability.  PB Shareholders can get stickers for the vehicle, Boat trailer and boat, SB Residents get their stickers from the RV Office.  These stickers help Security know who belongs in the Park.  There are new security cameras in the Boat Storage lot, new fence and soon laser security will be installed.  If you have a boat trailer in the lot DO NOT lock your tongue, they need to be moved occasionally. 

Summer docks and boat storage is available for Shareholders on a monthly basis.

VP Report:  Elections coming in March.  Larry Blank would like us to have flags for our boats.

George Mullin has offered to serve as Secretary next season.

John Mattei reported the Beautification Committee meeting is tomorrow, Wednesday Feb 2 in PB Hall Annex.

The Coast Guard Tapestry drawing was held.  Mike Turner was the winner.

  • April 3rd 2023 Boating Trip +

    The PB/SB Boating and Fishing clubs next boating trip will be April 3rd at 11:30am.  Rain date is the 4th. We will meeting at the boat launch by 5th st. The trip will head up the Manatee River and have lunch at Woody's River Roo. 

    Any questions or additional informtion should be address to any Boat Fish Club board member.

    Should be a fun last trip of the season.

    Paradise Bay Sarasota Bay Boating & Fishing Club Meeting Notes

    The meeting was called to order at 9:00am by President Ron Prieskorn.  There were 74 members present.

    Ron Led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance and then recited the Fishermen’s Prayer.

    Ron asked for a motion to accept the minutes that were available to review placed on the tables. The minutes were accepted and approved by the attendees.

    Ron stated the club will not be banking with the park office. He explained our club will continue to bank with our current bank after we make some needed changes to update our account. We will then review the banking practices next year and reevaluate annually.

    The date of our boat excursion to Sarasota has been changed to March 6

    at 11:00 with a rain date of March 7.

    The restaurants in Sarasota could not handle docking our group.  

    Because of this, everyone should pack a lunch and we will go to the sand bar near Sarasota and anchor. hang out, and eat.
