LADIES FRIENDSHIP CLUB MEETING MINUTES

Date/Time 12/14/22   1:00 PM     Number Attending: 21

Susan Miller opened the meeting with prayer and welcomed all members and guests. We are pleased to have several ladies from Sarasota Bay join us.

A wonderful lunch was enjoyed.

The minutes from the April 13, 2022 meeting were approved as mailed.

Treasurer’s report:

The proceeds from the Dec. 3 craft sale are as follows:

Lunch     $615.20

Donuts         43.00

Baskets     267.67

Bake sale 409.25

TOTAL: $1,335.12

As of today, we have a balance of $2,414.12 in our checkbook.

Bealls have not yet gotten permission to start style shows again. If we do not hear by mid-January, we will have a “fun” style show of our own. Donna Matteson and Joyce Nicholson have volunteered to head up this effort. Sunny Emerson will contact Designing Women.

Susan will check again with activities to see if they want us to help with welcoming new people to the park.

We voted to donate $250.00 to Sara Bay for material to make blankets.

Susan thanked everyone for their help at the craft show. A portion of a thank you letter from Thrivent for the donation of $2,000 for Ukrainian Relief was read. Our gift was matched so, actually $4,000 was our total gift. Also, a thank you note to Rick Digiorgio, for his donation of a beautiful handmade bowl, was read.

The ladies voted to get 200 bracelets to sell. 100 are for cancer awareness and 100 are American pride. If we sell all bracelets, we will realize a profit of $1,000!

Donna, Maryann and Rosie will organize the flower delivery on Valentine’s Day for people in the park that are 90 or over. If you know of anyone over 90, please let one of these ladies know.

Karen Carpenter is working on getting a speaker (for next month’s meeting) from an emergency shelter for women and children who are in immediate need of help,

The Boat and Fishing Club wondered if there are women who are interested in a woman’s kayaking group. Three brave women showed interest.

In an attempt to be a real “friendship” club, we need to be aware of who in our group is ill, have lost a loved one, or otherwise needs support. Please notify Heidy at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you know of anyone who would benefit from a word of encouragement. Joyce Nicholson volunteered to supply cards.

Next Monday, December 19, get out of bed early and help set up and serve for coffee hour. Also 3-4 ladies are needed to clean up. Remember to wear your Thrivent shirt.

The next craft show is February 4, 2023. Kathy Mullen will head up the luncheon.

At our next meeting (January 11, 2023) please remember to bring your $5.00 dues.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:30.

Respectfully Submitted,

Heidy Kiess, Secretary Pro Tem
