Date/Time:        4/13/22               1:00 PM                              Number attending:  19

Susan Miller welcomed members and guests and first-time attendees.

Prayer: Susan Miller

Lunch was served.

Karen R. stated that the minutes of the last meeting were previously sent by email and passed out at the meeting. There were no additions or corrections. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Joyce F. and seconded by Wendy G. The motion passed unanimously.

Treasurer’s report:

Joyce F. said during the day of the Hot Dog Sale we made $91.00 selling donuts. The donuts were paid for by donated gift cards. The Donation Box had $219.00 in it. The Hot Dog sales totaled $1,403.00. Our cost was only $205.17 because Susan received $250.00 from Thrivent to help pay for the food and supplies. The total profit was $1,507.84. It had been decided at our last meeting to donate that money to Ukrainian Refugee Relief. An anonymous donation of $500.00 was made by one of our members for that organization. Therefore, the total amount we will be donating is $2,000.00. The balance in our account is $1,115.48. A motion to accept the Treasurer’s report was made by Cathy M. and seconded by Pam L. It passed unanimously.

Old Business:

Hot Dog Sale: Susan M. said it was very successful especially because we planned to donate the profit to Ukrainian Refugee Relief. She researched about 12 different organizations that have Refugee Relief programs and, also, specifically Ukrainian Relief programs. She decided our donation should go to relief of the refugees rather than in to a general fund. She chose Lutheran World Relief because she has worked with them in the past and 100% of our donation will be used for what we specify. Susan M. applied for Matching Funds of $2,000.00. She will be notified after April 25th whether or not the application has been accepted. At that time, an email will be sent to notify us of their decision.

New Business:

Planned upcoming events for next season:

Meetings will be the second Wednesday of the month from December 2022-April 2023: 12/14/22, 1/11/23, 2/8/23, 3/8/23, 4/12/23 at 1 p.m.

Luncheon, Bake Sale & Basket Raffle (Please remember to donate items for the bake sale and basket) during the Craft Shows: Saturday, December 3, 2022 and Saturday, February 4, 2023.

We are in need of someone to be in charge of the Luncheon and many volunteers to help. Please let Susan know that you would like be in charge or help in the kitchen.

Susan has spoken to Beall’s about doing a Fashion Show next year. They don’t have approval from their Corporate Office to do a Fashion Show, yet. They would like to do one with us so they told Susan to contact them later this year to find out if they are able to do one next year.

The Hot Dog Sale will be on the same day as the Park Wide Sale. It was suggested that we have a Garage Sale on that day, also. Jean C. volunteered to let us use the area near her house for the Garage Sale.

There was some discussion about using clothes from a Thrift Store for a Fashion Show, if Beall’s isn’t able to have one. Another suggestion was doing some type of skit using household items to possibly advertise the Fashion Show.

Susan M. asked everyone to think of possible Fundraisers for next season. In order to implement them in a timely manner, she would like any ideas emailed to her before our first meeting in December. That way she can keep a list of those ideas and discuss them in the fall.

Bracelets: Susan M. gave us information about selling bracelets as a Fundraiser. They would cost us $1.50 each and we would sell them for $5.00 each. There were several different themes to choose from. Joyce N. made a motion to purchase the bracelets. Anita H. seconded the motion. It passed unanimously. It was decided to purchase 100 First Responders and 100 Cancer Awareness bracelets. Joyce N. said she would order them so we would have them by the beginning of December to sell at Coffee Hours and the Craft Show.

Officers for next season: Susan Miller-President, Cathy Mullen-Vice President, Joyce Farrington-Treasurer, and Karen Rimatzki-Secretary. Susan M. thanked everyone for their support and willingness to help.

Joyce F. told us how our funds were donated this season: $500 to Meals on Wheels, $200 to Turning Points, $500 to F.E.L.T., $500 to Southeast High School Girls Basketball, $500 to Still Point Mission, $500 to Turning Points, $250 to M.O.T.S., $2,000 to Ukrainian Refugee Relief with a total of $4,950. Joyce said she would put something in the Newsletter about our donations.

Welcome Committee: Susan M. said she needs to find out what materials are given to new Shareholders by the Office before we decide what we should be giving them during the visits. She, also, read the purpose and procedure she had made two years ago. She will talk with the people in the Office to determine what we should be doing.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:35 p.m.

Next meeting is scheduled for December 14, 2022 at 1 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Karen Rimatzki, Secretary
